Colin has vast experience in the foot care industry. He began his training fabricating prosthetic limbs and orthotic devices for the entire body at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto through a diploma program at George Brown College.
He then went on to a three year, six thousand hour, apprenticeship as a Pedorthic Technician and then as a Pedorthist. He opened an orthotic laboratory following his Pedorthic training producing custom orthotics and shoe and brace modifications for practitioners in the Hamilton and surrounding areas.
It was after many years enjoying the hands on fabricating and technical side of foot care that he decided to return to school and peruse the medical training necessary to become a licenced foot care specialist. This entails three years of post-graduate studies followed by a one year internship at the Michener Institute in Toronto. He graduated from Michener with honours and is now a licenced as a Chiropodist in Ontario. Never wanting to stop learning he recently graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Podiatric Medicine from Leeds University in the UK. Colin continues to further his education by attending various lectures, programs, courses and conferences in the foot care field.
Colin has served as the Vice President of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario, the Chair of the ICRC (formerly complaints), the Chair of the Education Committee and was a member of the Provincial Government Drug Authorities Working Group that is made up of selected members from the health colleges with drug prescribing rights. He has also represented the College of Chiropodists as the liaison with WSIB. Colin is a member of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario, Ontario Society of Chiropody, Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine, Prince Edward Island Podiatry Association and the Saskatchewan College of Podiatrists.
